The Big Picture

Polling consistently shows that electricity costs are a top concern for households, with 82% of consumers finding that their bills are somewhat or much higher than they were the year before. Ohio is no exception, as the average electrical bill for Ohioans rose 22% from the year before, the second-largest percent increase in the country.
These rising costs can be attributed to a number of factors, including long-standing deregulatory policies, investments in an aging grid, and the continuing expansion of data centers across the state. As such, there has never been a more important time for consumers to be actively engaged with their energy provider and co-op representatives.
